“Een pootje helpen” is a Unity game created to raise awareness about sustainability in the city. Our goal was to design a cozy experience for a casual audience. For this project, we recreated a real location in Utrecht, the Netherlands.
Step into the paws of Feline the cat and explore Domplein, meeting local animal residents who show how Utrecht remains a sustainable place for all its furry friends. Lend them a paw with their quests, complete small tasks to support the community, wander through the city, and unlock new friends and areas as you continue to explore.
Gameplay
Every furry friend has a quest for you to complete — and some quests even lead to the next one. Help the residents by pushing, pulling, climbing, and collecting items to finish their quests and unlock new adventures.
You can also freely wander around Utrecht, discovering all the ways the city becomes more sustainable. Watch the level grow as you play, and don’t forget: the city is full of secrets waiting to be uncovered.
Role and Contribution
For Een Pootje Helpen, I was the lead — and only — developer. Together with a team of 8 designers and artists, we created a short and cozy adventure game in just two months.
I was responsible for all programming in Unity, including the core mechanics, game systems, and technical implementation of art assets. Besides development, I also contributed to concept discussions, helping translate creative ideas into a concrete design that was both fun and achievable within our deadline.
This project challenged me to balance technical problem-solving with collaboration, scope management, and making sure the team’s creative vision came to life in a playable game.
